Butler Hill Group LLC, was a leading language technology consulting and services firm that helped clients develop technology offerings for international markets. Butler Hill's services included search, speech recognition, and text analytics.
Butler Hill Group’s founder and owner was exploring strategic options. She had grown the company and wanted to develop a plan to best monetize her ownership.
Carter Morse & Mathias was Butler Hill Group's exclusive financial advisor arranging, structuring and negotiating a merger with Appen, Inc., a linguistic technology business based in Sydney, Australia and backed by Anacacia Capital, an Australia-based private equity firm. The merger of the two companies created a new global leader in linguistic solutions. With the help of its AICA Australian affiliate, AFG Venture Group, and the access AFG provided to an excellent group of local advisors, Carter Morse & Mathias performed considerable due diligence on Appen, given Butler Hill’s significant equity stake in the merged entity post closing.
