Micron Research Corp. was a division of E-Holdings, a diversified holding company with a number of operations in the graphite industry. Micron employed a unique technology to manufacture fine grain graphite materials specifically for the electric discharge machining (EDM) industry.
E-Holdings was seeking to sell Micron and use the proceeds to finance other operations.
As Micron’s exclusive financial advisor, Carter Morse & Mathias arranged, structured and negotiated the sale to GrafTech International (NYSE:GTI), which had deep knowledge of fine grain graphite and strong manufacturing expertise. Micron was an excellent strategic fit as it filled a gap in GrafTech’s technology portfolio.
